New Verification Requirements for .RU / .COM.RU / .NET.RU / .ORG.RU Domain Names
Effective 31 August 2026, ResellerClub will stop accepting new registrations for the domain extensions listed below. From 1 September 2026, new registrant identity verification rules will also apply, following Russian Federal Law No. 569‑FZ. These rules affect individuals, businesses, and registrants located outside Russia.
- .RU
- .COM.RU
- .NET.RU
- .ORG.RU
RU‑CENTER is ResellerClub's registrar partner for these domains. It manages the registrant verification process and the Trustee Service.
What is changing
- New registrations: ResellerClub will stop accepting new registrations for the affected extensions on 31 August 2026.
- Existing domains: Existing domains remain active. Websites and email continue working.
- Domain transactions: From 1 September, an unverified owner cannot renew a domain, change DNS or nameservers, change the registrant, or transfer the domain to another registrar.
An unverified domain will not be suspended on 1 September. The risk of losing the domain arises later, if it cannot be renewed and reaches expiry.
What this means for Russian registrants
Russian individuals must verify their identity using a verified Gosuslugi account. Russian companies must complete verification through an authorized employee, linked to the company's Gosuslugi account. A simplified Gosuslugi account is not sufficient — the account must have standard or fully verified status.
What this means for non-Russian registrants
Gosuslugi verification may be available to non-Russian registrants with sufficient ties to Russia, but it will not be available to everyone. Owners who cannot use Gosuslugi have the following options:
- Transfer the domain to an eligible Russian person or company before 1 September.
- Move the domain to RU‑CENTER's direct service and procure its paid Trustee Service directly from RU‑CENTER.
How domain owners can verify
RU‑CENTER provides two verification routes:
- RU‑CENTER sends a unique link to the registrant contact email held for the domain.
- The owner uses the verification link in their NIC‑D agreement.
Check the registrant contact email for every affected domain, and correct any outdated, shared, or unread address.
Tell customers to expect a genuine email from RU‑CENTER asking them to sign in through Gosuslugi. Advance notice helps them distinguish it from a phishing attempt.
Each owner must complete verification separately. Resellers cannot verify on behalf of their customers — there is no bulk verification option.
Verification through NIC‑D
- Log in to your reseller or customer panel.
- Go to Domain Overview.
- Select Contact Details.
- Open Registrant Information to find the NIC‑D credentials.
- Sign in to NIC‑D and use the link in the agreement to complete verification through Gosuslugi.
Trustee Service for owners outside Russia
RU‑CENTER offers a paid Trustee Service for owners who cannot complete Gosuslugi verification. A verified Russian company within the RU‑CENTER group becomes the registered owner, while the customer retains day-to-day control of the domain.
ResellerClub does not offer or procure the Trustee Service, and it cannot be ordered while ResellerClub manages the NIC‑D account. To use the service, the domain owner must first move to RU‑CENTER's direct service, then procure Trustee directly from RU‑CENTER.
Current terms:
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Activate Trustee on an existing domain | RUB 10,500 |
| Renew Trustee per year (includes domain renewal) | RUB 17,500 |
- Identity documents must reach RU‑CENTER within seven working days of activation.
- The domain will stop resolving if the documents are not submitted within this period.
- Both the domain and the Trustee Service must be paid at renewal.
- The domain will be deleted if either payment is missed.
Complete the move to RU‑CENTER and procure the Trustee Service by 31 August 2026. Before 1 September, activation is handled as an owner change. After 1 September, RU‑CENTER plans to delete and re‑register the domain to activate Trustee — this carries additional risk of losing the domain name, and will change the domain's expiry date.
Renew domains that expire soon
Renew eligible domains before 1 September, especially those expiring soon. Early renewal provides more time to complete verification. It does not remove the verification requirement for future changes or renewals.
If you have resellers or customers under you
- Identify all affected domains under your account, including domains managed by your resellers and customers.
- Review the expiry date of each domain.
- Renew eligible domains that expire soon.
- Check and correct each registrant contact email.
- Decide whether each owner will use Gosuslugi, an eligible Russian owner, or move to RU‑CENTER for the Trustee Service.
- Complete the move to RU‑CENTER and procure Trustee by 31 August, if it is needed.
- Complete any required registrant changes before 1 September.
- Send this information to your resellers and customers.
Important information for API users
Verification cannot be started through the API, and the verification link is not available through the API. The owner must use the emailed link or the link in their NIC‑D agreement.
From 1 September, domain update requests will remain pending until the owner confirms them. RU‑CENTER will email the confirmation link to the owner. Trustee domains are exempt from this confirmation step.
How to move to RU‑CENTER's direct service
- In NIC‑D, go to Operations > Transfer to Direct Services.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the transfer.
- After the move is complete, procure the Trustee Service directly from RU‑CENTER.
